Empowering Comfort: Upgrading Inefficient Heating with Smart, Low-Cost Solutions
A resident at Meadowbrook Court in Gobowen was experiencing significant difficulties with the existing heating and hot water system installed in the property. The underfloor heating and hot water cylinder were inefficient, difficult to control, and extremely expensive to run.
Due to the high running costs, the homeowner had to carefully manage when heating and hot water could be used, making it difficult to maintain a warm and comfortable living environment.
Shropshire Council confirmed that the property was eligible for support through the Government-backed Home Upgrade Grant (HUG2) scheme, allowing the heating and hot water systems to be upgraded to a more efficient solution.

Delivering an Efficient and Accessible Heating Solution
RJW Electrics installed a range of Dimplex Quantum High Heat Retention Storage Heaters throughout the property, with each heater specified to match the size and heating requirements of the individual rooms.
The system also included a Dimplex Smart Hub, enabling the homeowner to control the heating directly from a mobile phone. This provided a significant accessibility benefit due to the client’s limited sight and mobility, allowing heating to be adjusted quickly and easily.
To replace the inefficient hot water cylinder, a Sunamp Thermino Heat Battery was installed. This compact system provides hot water on demand while using significantly less energy and taking up far less space than the previous cylinder.
The homeowner now benefits from a warm, comfortable, and easily controllable home, along with reliable hot water available on demand.
